Anaesthetic Considerations in Macroglossia Due to Haemangioma of the Tongue: A Case Report
نویسنده
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Airway management is a fundamental practice of anaesthesia and tracheal intubation is frequently required to ensure adequate airway control. Fibre optic techniques represent a dramatic advance in the management of the difficult intubation. The attending anaesthesiologist faces a challenge in managing a difficult airway in emergency situations. The traditional rapid sequence intubation cannot be followed in patients with a full stomach with a difficult airway.

Huge Tongue Lipoma: A Case Report
Introduction: Lipomas are among the most common tumors of the human body. However, they are uncommon in the oral cavity and are observed as slow growing, painless, and asymptomatic yellowish submucosal masses. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice and recurrence is not expected. Case Report: The case of a 30-year-old woman with a huge lipoma on the tip of her tongue since 3 years, is ...

Hemangiomas are tumors of blood vessels identified by rapid endothelial cell proliferation in early infancy followed by involution over time. All other abnormalities are malformations resulting from anomalous development of vascular plexuses. This lesion in the oral cavity is not common. Despite its benign origin and behaviour, it is always of clinical importance to the dental profession and re...

متن کاملUltrasonography of the tongue in macroglossia – a case report
This paper is an attempt to assess the usefulness of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of the enlargement of the tongue (macroglossia). The role of sonography in diagnosing local pathologies of the tongue, such as neoplasms, abscesses or granulomas, has been well-established for 20 years. Rarely is its usefulness considered with respect to diagnosing macroglossia with concomitant systemic diseas...
متن کاملMacroglossia due to Systemic Amyloidosis: Is There a Role for Radiotherapy?
BACKGROUND Macroglossia due to amyloid depositions can cause cosmetic problems and functional disability, and can lead to life-threatening airway obstruction. Management of macroglossia in systemic amyloidosis is controversial, and the role of surgery is unclear. CASE DESCRIPTION We present a case of a 66-year-old woman affected by macroglossia due to light chain amyloidosis who presented wit...
